This game is in Japanese but is language-independent (no Japanese text on cards), a pdf copy of the English rules will be provided with the game.

Cafe Animals is a trick-taking game where you want to score the most points.

The game uses a deck of cards featuring several suits and the same range of numbers, as well as a gray suit with higher numbers than the other suits. It is a "must follow" game, but the highest card of the lead suit, or the gray suit, wins.

Additionally, the game includes one extra card for each suit, without a number. One of these is inserted into the deck and will serve as the timer for the hand. The others go next to the deck. The winner of a trick can choose to take the cards played to the trick as points or take one of the suit cards. While the suit cards are visible, the smallest number will win in tricks which were lead by a card of one of those colors. Additionally, taking such a card alters a players scoring calculation.
